Conference debates technology and the media and entertainment business

The new technologies are fantastic tools for all electronic media environments. Both conventional TV and the new platforms stand to gain from these tools, expanding their business models and reach a huge range of consumers avid for new content.

And to get to know these technologies, their opportunities and impacts, SET EXPO, the largest technology and media and entertainment business event in Latin America, is holding yet another edition of its Conference and Trade Show between August 26 and 29 at the Convention Center and the Red Pavilion of the Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.

Attendees at SET EXPO range from students to specialists in the field, as well as entrepreneurs, business leaders, professionals, representatives of government departments and start-ups from around the world.  The Conference offers more than 56 panels and 200 talks on topics that are trending in the market, such as production; distribution; technology; broadcasting; new media and services, even innovations such as new business opportunities that may arise from 5G technology, the evolution of media consumption screens and new protocols and tools (IP, blockchain, etc.).

“Content distribution using broadband and mobile devices is a global trend, and conventional platforms are moving ahead to connect to these tools. These initiatives at integration between traditional and new technologies are accommodations that already occurred in the past and are now being repeated”, says Carlos Fini, president of SET. “Brazil’s importance within the international context in this sector can be seen from the fact that, once again, the world’s leading players have confirmed their presence at the event”, the executive goes on to say.

This will be the 31st Technology and Media and Entertainment Business Conference organized by SET, the benchmark association for the audiovisual technology sector in Brazil, with a track record of 30 years in the business. It expects to attract 2,000 attendees during the four days of the event.

On the general theme of technology and business, there will be subdivisions discussing topics such as radio and audio; the contribution of AV, and infrastructure; innovation and disruptive technologies; content production; audiovisual distribution and regulatory and standardization issues.

Registrants at the Conference can check out panels such as “The Future of Satellite-based Distribution”, “Evolution of the Pay TV Market in Brazil”, “Cyber Security”, “TV 3.0 New Business Models”, “Combatting Audiovisual Piracy”, “Audience/Social Media Measuring’, “Big Data, Analytics and New AV Business”, “Chatbots” and “e-Sports”.


Those interested in participating at SET EXPO can now register. Conference passes are on sale and there is a progressive discount depending on the number of days purchased. Those registering by the end of July will enjoy the same table of prices charged in June, with a 10% discount. Entrance to the Trade Show is free. Those registering by July 22 will enter a draw for a full pass that gives access to the four days of the Conference. Two of these passes will be raffled.


Divided into the Conference and a Trade Show, SET EXPO is the largest technology e and media and entertainment business event in Latin America and one of the world’s largest. This year, for the conference alone 2,000 attendees are expected, with an additional 15,000 at the Trade Show, from 38 countries, invading the Red Pavilion and the Expo Center Norte Convention Center to check out the novelties of 150 exhibitor companies representing over 400 Brazilian and international brands. The event takes place from August 26 thru 29.
