SET reaches agreement with Inatel to be on the SP University Channel

Seeking to divulge technical and scientific knowledge, SET is expanding its range of operations by entering TV. The initiative was taken by TV Inatel, of the National Institute of Telecommunications, which approached SET and proposed an agreement to contribute to disseminating the association’s activities, content and events.

“What is involved in this arrangement is the union between the content that SET has to offer, and the opportunity that Inatel has to distribute this content in the city of São Paulo”, SET president, Olímpio José Franco explains.

Over recent months, SET has entered into a series of agreements with universities, and this initiative is yet another part of the strategy of getting closer to academia.

“SET is present in every field of telecommunications engineering, from production to transmission, but the professional side alone is not important. We also want to reach out to and join with the students, as they are also part of the market”, Olímpio explains.

For the Director of Inatel, Prof. Marcelo de Oliveira Marques, setting up this partnership with SET will strengthen initiatives designed to divulge and promote education, science and technology in a very important segment that is experiencing rapid transformations in its business model and in the technologies involved. “For many years we have been part of the Board of Directors of SET, and this partnership between Inatel and SET will add even more synergy to our actions as we seek to develop the entire television industry in Brazil”, Marcelo Marques emphasizes.

In recent weeks, the directors of TV Inatel called on SET to discuss programming and the content that is to go on the air. The idea of the two entities is to have a weekly, 30-minute program, which will go into production after SET EXPO 2016.

“We are looking for partners that produce rich knowledge and who can share it with us in our space on the São Paulo University Channel. The content that SET produces is especially rich and deserves much wider disclosure. That is why we are very pleased to enter into this partnership”, says Robinson Caputo, Director of TV Inatel, giving his opinion.

Initial expectations are to reach an audience of at least 300,000 viewers per month, who will watch the SET/Inatel series of programs.
