SET senior management participates in the world’s first 8k transmissions

Taking advantage of the Olympic flame and SET EXPO 2016, on August 20, SET will participate in the transmission of the final of the men’s soccer in the Museum of Tomorrow (Museu do do Amanhã), in Rio de Janeiro.

The event is the result of a partnership between Globo and NHK, who will be at SET EXPO 2016 and extended the exclusive invitation to the senior management of SET.

Besides the soccer, the companies will put on sessions to show the basketball, swimming, athletics and judo competitions. This will be the first time in Brazil that a live 8k terrestrial transmission will take place.

The results of this transmission will be the theme of the panel moderated by SET vice president, Fernando Bittencourt, on September 1.

8K technology provides pictures in very high resolution, 16 times higher than HD, affording very high realism. The standard is the most advanced in terms of the quality of the image visible to the human eye, which means more exciting and more vibrant competitions with higher definition.
