FM Intermodulation: The Strategic Role of Regulation in Spectral Coexistence

During the presentation, expert Paulo Eduardo dos Reis Cardoso will introduce proposals to update Technical Requirement Act No. 8.104/2022. His approach will focus on minimizing the impact of intermodulation phenomena, particularly in FM sound broadcasting systems.

The proposal includes the development of clearer public policy guidelines, updating key topics in line with the ongoing evolution of broadcasting services, and establishing preventive regulations for spectral coexistence conditions. The objective is to reinforce Anatel’s regulatory role in addressing interference between FM channels—especially adjacent, co-located channels spaced at 400 kHz.
