The Role of Metadata in Optimizing Production Workflows and Enriching Assets in the Archive

In this panel, we will address the importance of metadata in optimizing content production and enriching the content archives of content creators with the aim of increasing the monetization potential of older assets. Within this context, we will also explore the intersection of metadata and artificial intelligence, along with advancements in search technologies that facilitate media discovery. We will have perspectives from Brazilian media companies as well as from Avid, who will share research findings regarding the transformation of asset management driven by new metadata organization strategies and the integration of AI tools.

He has worked as an investment analyst at financial institutions such as CitI and Credit Suisse in N.Y. At CIS Group he served as Director of Corporate Development , COO and currently CEO.

Speaker: Fábio Ferraz, Director of Media Solutions, Globo

Director of Technology for Media Solutions at Globo and SET Board Member, Fábio Ferraz has been supporting the media industry's digital transformation through innovation, experimentation, and acceleration among manufacturers, developers, and other stakeholders across the Media Supply Chain ecosystem. At Globo, he leads a team responsible for the architecture, projects, development, and 24/7 operation of all solutions and applications in the Content Production Chain. Currently, alongside his peers, he is spearheading the creation of the so-called “Architecture of the Future” for the Media Supply Chain—redefining platforms for pre-production, production, post-production, media preparation, and broadcasting. Fábio has been with Globo for 13 years, in addition to 12 years of prior experience in the industry, including at TV Educativa and EBC.

Speaker: Shailendra Mathur, Vice President and Chief Architect, Avid Technology

In the role of Vice President and Chief Architect, Shailendra Mathur is responsible for the technology strategies and architecture of Avid’s products. Shailendra has been awarded several patents and presented papers at numerous conferences, panels, and journals on subjects such as AI, asset management, 4K/HDR, high performance computing, cloud technologies, security, immersive entertainment, computer vision, and medical imaging. With more than 25 years of innovation experience in the media industry, Shailendra was privileged being one of the team members who received the Philo T. Farnsworth Prime Time Engineering Emmy Award on behalf of Avid in 2018.

Speaker: William Rogério de Oliveira, Manager of Technology and Digital Products at Fundação Cásper Líbero

William is a professional with over 20 years of experience in IT and Broadcast, specializing in service management and solution architecture. He holds a degree in Network Technology and has a Postgraduate degree in IT Infrastructure Architecture and Management from FIAP, in addition to an Executive MBA from Insper. Currently, William holds the position of Manager of Technology and Digital Products at Fundação Cásper Líbero, a non-profit institution that includes several companies, including TV Gazeta, Radio Gazeta FM, portal Gazeta Esportiva, and Faculdade Cásper Líbero. With solid expertise in mission-critical environments and leading multidisciplinary teams in the areas of Technology, Broadcast, and Digital Products, William has a successful track record in developing complex projects for companies in the media and entertainment, education, internet, and pharmaceutical industries. He currently leads the technology and digital products areas of the Foundation, responsible for creating and implementing multi-platform content production and distribution solutions, connectivity, as well as the development of new products for the Media and Education sectors.

Speaker: Fernando Castelani, Consulting Account lead, Google Cloud

With over 20 years of experience in the media industry, working on large-scale digitization and digital transformation projects, he has worked for companies like Harris (Imagine), leading modernization projects for various media groups in Brazil. Later on, he led technology teams at the Disney Group, and currently, he is involved in Google Cloud activities related to adopting the Cloud as a transformative tool for traditional Media Supply Chain workflows, with a focus on improving efficiency, scalability, culture, and innovation.
