Infrastructure Sharing: How to Handle its Maintenance

The year 2023 will come to a close with over 1500 retransmitters installed by the Digitaliza Brasil Program. Now, how will the sustainability of these stations be ensured? Challenges and solutions for the maintenance of Digitaliza Brasil Program stations

As we approach the conclusion of the implementation of the multi-channel stations of the Digitaliza Brasil Program and the analog Switch-Off, a significant increase in the demand for services and solutions for the operation and maintenance of Digital TV retransmitting stations is imposed on television networks , in addition to a natural search for qualified professionals for its own staff.
Our almost exclusive experience and performance in this market allows us to collect a variety of information, research solutions and analyze the various options that are viable so that the installed base can be maintained at the appropriate cost and with a service that can bring the results that companies of the sector are looking for.
In this presentation, we intend to point out the state of the art regarding the maintenance and operation of these systems.

Sérgio has 34 years of experience in maintenance of transmission systems, projects for the implementation of TV stations and retransmitters, and in the construction of telecommunications infrastructure. Specialist in project management with PMP® certification, and experience as a consultant for the most diverse areas, such as the third sector, financial and environmental. Graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná and Electronics Technician at the former CEFET-PR, with an MBA in Project Management from FGV and Specialization in Construction Management from UTFPR, and graduated from PMI's Leadership Institute Master Class. Vice-President of the PMI Paraná Chapter and professor of project management at several educational institutions.

Speaker: Carlos Eduardo Neiva Melo, Vice President of Network and Technology, ASTRAL

Carlos Neiva - Communication Network Engineer from UnB, specializing in Information Technology, and trained in Digital TV by NHK-CTI in Tokyo, Japan. He worked in the planning of broadcasting channel allocation and the implementation of the Brazilian Digital Television System as a Telecommunications Regulation Technician at Anatel from 2009 to 2012. Since 2013, he has been a telecommunications engineer at the Chamber of Deputies, working on the implementation of the Legislative Network. Since 2021, he has been a supervisor of the Legislative Network, a technical advisor for ASTRAL, and a representative of ASTRAL in Gired, Gaispi, and GT TV 3.0.

Technology Executive with a Master's degree in Innovation and Business, an MBA in Project Management, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. With over 20 years of professional experience, works as the Telecom Support Manager, responsible for network and security infrastructures, signal transport, distribution, and transmission systems at GLOBO.

Speaker: Wagner de Sousa Bastos, Broadcast Planning Manager, EBC

Electrical Engineer and Computational Engineer from Centro Universitário de Brasília. Started his career in 1998 and currently works as the Broadcast Planning Manager at Empresa Brasileira de Comunicação - EBC. With 25 years of experience in the field, he has been involved in major projects within the company, such as Digitaliza Brasil. He has held positions such as Executive Engineering Manager and Director of Technology, Engineering, and Operations within the company. Currently working on the radio and TV signal expansion project at EBC.

Speaker: Gunnar Bedicks, CTO at Seja Digital

Gunnar Bedicks is a professor, researcher, and telecommunications professional with over 30 years of experience in devices, technologies, and systems for analog and digital communication. In 2013, he received the Order of Rio Branco commendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his contribution to the expansion of the Brazilian Digital TV System to countries in South America, Central America, and Africa. Since 2015, he has held the position of CTO at Seja:Digital, an entity responsible for the release of the 700 MHz frequency band for 4G. Currently, he is leading the implementation of the Digitaliza Brasil Program in 1,650 municipalities, the deployment of the underwater optical cable of Infovia 01, and the Norte Conectado Program between Santarém and Manaus.

Speaker: Luis Renato Giffoni, Coordinator of Basic Broadcasting Plans Administration Process, Anatel

Graduated in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Telecommunications and post-graduated in Telecommunications Regulation from the University of Brasília (UnB). A career civil servant at Anatel since 2005, has held management positions in the areas of interconnection and numbering, as well as serving as an advisor to the Board of Directors and the Superintendence of Grants and Resources for Provision. He is a member of the Brazilian Communication Commission, which addresses telecommunications and broadcasting-related issues in international forums. Prior to Anatel, he worked at Brasil Telecom, coordinating the planning and design of the company's IP and corporate networks.

Speaker: João Paulo Ribeiro, New Business General Manager, Linear Denki

With a technical background in electronics and telecommunications engineering, he has worked in the broadcasting market since 2006. He participated in the key milestones of Digital TV deployment in Brazil, working on the development and installation of transmission equipment, in addition to contributing to the development of standards through the SBTVD Forum and disseminating knowledge as a speaker in the SET events. He has experience in Digital TV projects outside Brazil. He is currently responsible for the engineering, pre- and post-sales departments at Linear Denki, coordinating teams working on Digital TV, DTV+, and FM projects.
