Simone Ferrara

Simone Ferrara is SVP Technology & IP Strategy at V-Nova, with responsibility for the technology, IP and standardization strategy, including driving its execution across the company. Simone has been chairing the committee for the development of the newest MPEG standard, MPEG-5 Part 2 Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding, and has contributed to many of the coding tools included in the standard. Prior to V-Nova, Simone worked in the telecommunications industry first as a researcher and then as a Global IP Counsel for Vodafone Group. He served as Council Member and Head of Education for the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
Having graduated with an MSc in Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis (USA), Simone subsequently qualified as a European and British patent attorney and has used his experience to drive innovation and technology development in the video industry. Simone was awarded the “Talented Young Italians 2019 (Industry and Commerce)” prize by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK for outstanding contribution to the business development between Italy and the United Kingdom.
