Paulo Tonet Camargo
President of the International Broadcasting Association – AIR
With a degree in Legal and Social Sciences and a postgraduate degree in Public Law, Paulo Tonet Camargo began his professional career as a lawyer in Porto Alegre in 1982. Four years later, he joined the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio Grande do Sul, where he served as Attorney, Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the State. He was president of the Public Prosecutor’s Office Association of Rio Grande do Sul. At the Ministry of Justice, he was president of the National Council for Criminal and Penitentiary Policy and director of the National Penitentiary Department from 1995 to 1997. In 1998, he joined the RBS Group, where he was General Director in Brasília and Vice President of Legal and Institutional Affairs. In 2011, he left RBS to take on the role of Vice President of Institutional Relations at Grupo Globo. He was President of ABERT (Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters) from 2016 to 2020. He is also a member of the Superior Council of ABERT and the National Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (CONAR).
On October 3, 2023, he took office as President of the International Broadcasting Association – AIR.
