Nelson Porto

Photographer, AI Art Director, XR Specialist

Nelson Porto is an artist, photographer, and specialist in Virtual Reality and Generative Artificial Intelligence applied to the audiovisual industry. Through photography, technology, and immersive storytelling, he explores new forms of creation and interaction with reality.

He participated in the Emmy Award-winning documentary Awavena (2020) and is the co-creator and co-producer of Tinta & Fogo, a virtual reality exhibition about the prehistoric rock paintings of Serra da Capivara, which received Best VR awards at the Laval Virtual and Cinequest festivals.

Since 2019, he has focused on the use of Generative AI in audiovisual production and, since 2023, has dedicated himself full-time to teaching and developing customized AI workflows for the audiovisual industry. His work spans film productions, documentaries, visual mapping projects, and immersive experiences.

His AI-based artistic works have been exhibited at SP–Arte through Bianca Boeckel Gallery and at Brisa Gallery in Lisbon. He also teaches courses, delivers lectures, and conducts workshops on AI, technology, and innovation at events such as Rio2C, Rio Innovation Week, and POW Festival, as well as institutions including Sebrae, Casa Firjan, ECO-UFRJ, MIS-RJ, and the Paraná Audiovisual Industry Association.

Since 2024, he has served as AI Editor at Meio, where he develops AI-driven image and video creation workflows, writes about the subject, and contributes to specialized training programs.
