Marcelo Bechara
Director of Institutional Relations at Globo
Marcelo Bechara is the Director of Institutional Relations for Media and Regulation at Globo. Prior to this role, he served as the Legal Consultant for the Ministry of Communications (2005 to 2010), the Attorney General of Anatel (2010 to 2011), a Director-Counselor of Anatel (2011 to 2015), and the Vice President of Anatel (2015).
He has extensive experience in media, regulation, technology, entertainment, and the internet. He has served as a counselor for the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) for 9 years and as a member of the Board of Administration of the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br). He participated in the formulation of the Brazilian Internet Decalogue and the Marco Civil da Internet (Internet Civil Rights Framework), as well as discussions on global internet governance. He was also a member of the National Cinema Council from 2018 to 2020.
Marcelo Bechara is a member of the Superior Council of ABERT (Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters), the Legal Vice President of ABTA (Brazilian Association of Pay Television), and a member of the Board of Directors of IAB Brazil (Interactive Advertising Bureau), where he served as CIR until 2021.
As a lawyer, he is a certified specialist in Digital Law from Harvard Law School, Georgetown University, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He is a graduate of the Superior War School (ESG).
