Álvaro José Paes Leme de Abreu, better known simply as Álvaro José, is a Brazilian journalist and sports announcer. He has worked for the channels Rede Bandeirantes, BandSports, Rede Globo and Rede Record. He was a blogger in Beijing for the Terra portal. He has won awards from APCA, journalism and Ford/ACESP.
The official narrator of the history of the Olympics, he released a DVD for Revista Placar, which considered him “The voice of the Olympics”. He has been to 11 Olympics – 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.
He has also covered five World Cups, four Winter Olympic Games, as well as world championships in volleyball, swimming and gymnastics, among other events.
