AI image analysis in era of short-time viewing

Summary videos and program websites have been important in order to raise awareness of programs. However, the production of summary videos and program websites requires high-level specializations and long-time works, as with video editing for broadcast. We have developed new AI image analysis technologies and practical systems using them, such as the automatic generation of news summary video, automatic generation of program summary video, and the automatic extraction of program-thumbnail-images put on website.

Kohei Kambara, Chief of Advanced Transmission Systems Research Division, NHK STRL

Kohei Kambara received BE and ME degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Yokohama National University, Kanagawa, Japan, in 1999 and 2001. He joined NHK in 2001. From 2001-2009 and since 2019, he has been working for NHK STRL. He is a Chief of Advanced Transmission Systems Research Division and is engaged in the development of next-generation broadcasting systems.
